Angry Complaints for George and Dragon

To be made using the form at :-

http://www.whitbread.co.uk/communica...?id=contact_us

Subject = Feedback

Brand = Beefeater

Address = George and Dragon, Roman Road, Mountnessing, Essex

Message = Just summarise how bad your food was (if you got any), or if you didn't get any + remember the 10 guys that came in a minibus taxi that were also turned away.

Lets let them have it with both barrels ..... I am still annoyed by them.

my message to them :-

On the 13th July 2006, I visited The George and Dragon pub, Roman Road, Mountnessing, Essex.

I arrived at 7.30pm and went to the bar to order drinks and food, I was told by a female member of staff that food could not be ordered until 8.15 pm.

At 8.15 pm I went back to the bar to order some food, I was then told by the same member of staff that food was now not being made for the rest of the evening. I went back outside to the beer garden and was told by another of our group, that she had placed an order for food, not 3 minutes before I went in to place my order !
I then complained to another member of staff who was in charge of seating your patrons about how I had been treated, and was told by him 'We are still serving drinks though' , I was hungry, drinks are not going to fill my stomach !!

I then asked for details as to who to contact with regards to the lack of professionalism that I found at this establishment.

Questions I cannot find answers to include :-

1. This is a Beefeater pub, the car park was not even 1/3 full and with lots of empty seats in the restaurant, yet food could not be provided, WHY ?

2. Why was I made to wait so long to find out that I would not be able to order food ?

3. How is your pub still running, with people like this in employment at the establishment ?

If you would please reply, it would be much appreciated.

There was plenty of noise coming from the Kitchen, and as said in my complaint, they accepted an order from one of our group only about 3 minutes before the time I was told to come back and make an order.

Were you at the meet ?

The reason they gave was that they were 'snowed under' with orders. 'No chef' is a valid reason but this was not the reason given.

Real shame it was so bad on the food front, I've been in there a few times over the years and it's a really nice place!

Black Horse in Brentwood is nice, lovely food, big carpark, kids play area and beer garden - Ed will probably know it.

Private club at the top of my road is really nice too, good beer, good food, loads of parking, mahoosive fields and woods.............. and I could drink

Can always invite everyone round mine on the way home for a cup of "Mummy's cocoa" and buscuits - about 200 yards from the club

Thumbs down

I did not attend this meet but speaking as an ex assistant manager of a pub/resturant, the staff leave alot to be desired. If they had problems with kitchen staff lack of food suply or problems with equipment and this does happen especialy when the weathers nice they should have made their customers aware from the start. Placed notices around the bar or maybe by word of mouth when asking to place an order. If you really are unhappy ,make notes in your complaint about the general cleaness of the place ,what the toilets were like ,how the staff we to you .Did they smile ,make eye contact, tell you what was on offer drink and food wise. If all or some of this was not up to scratch make sure this is all in your complaint, NEVER send your complaint to the pub (It gets filed under B) always find out head offices adress.

Don't ask Nate about the Men's, it was so dark in there I thought he'd put his shoes through the rinse cycle

Fortunately we got there early enough to get served food and it wasn't too bad. I appreciate everyone else's frustrations though and have left bad feedback as well!!

Thank you for your e-mail.

Firstly, I am sorry for the shortfalls that occurred at the George & Dragon. From the comments, I can fully appreciate how annoying and disappointing these were at the time.

As a result of your correspondence, I have passed a copy over to Doug Clay, who is the Operations Manager for this establishment. I know that your comments will be investigated and once this has concluded the Operations Manager will be in touch with you again.

Once again, thank you for contacting us and I know that you will be hearing from Doug in the near future.
