Default What next?

Morning all!!

After seeing a pretty poor 250bhp / 240lbfts on saturday i have the hankering for a bit more power. Although pretty chuffed with the power for the mods that i've done, the power's not enough.

So what should i add next to my equal length headers, decat dp, decat centre section, back box and uprated panel filter? is it possible to gain power without spending huge amounts of £££? my ecu is the early type, no remapping available. so a new ecu would be the logical step i guess but a bit on the £££ side.

I was thinking dawes device and a walbro fuel pump (or similar). or should i just start saving for an aftermarket ecu?

Start saving I think. They come up pretty often on here. Your figures are pretty good though........

i guess that the ecu is the safer option.

figures are ok for what i've done and the age and mileage of the car (94wrx and around 88k miles) they're not too bad. just a little disapointing when it's meant to have 240bhp as standard (jap import run on 99 ron and octane booster).

get yourself a full decat pipe, you will be surprised how many more horses and torque that releases

Thats the downside of going on the rolling road, it's easy (too easy) to get obsessed with the print out. Before you went I bet you were happy with the car, now you've seen the figures you are unhappy with it.......

Just think, with a '94wrx with 88,000 miles do you REALLY want big figures or do you want to have some money in your wallet at the end of the month?

What am I talking about....... get the ECU QUICK......

still happy with car, just would like to have say......... 300bhp.

i was thinking on the way home that, if they car feels that quick with 250 bhp, what would it be like with a bit more

i may just have to stop increasing the size of my waistband with pub lunches and stick the money in a pot for that ecu.

one factor that i can think of is that i run the car on tesco 99 ron as i don't live near a shell garage that sells optimax. heard someone mention at the rr day that they changed from tesco to optimax and gained 10 bhp.

mmm. am tempted to stick my standard headers back on and have another run to see what happens. guess i'd need to go all the way back up to wrc to get a fair comparison though.

what you looking at doing to get to the 280 - 300 mark?

that's the thing, i guess. like people have mentioned if you're happy with it before knowing what it's putting out then it must be fine.

i think for now i'll get a dawes device to take the boost to 1.0 bar. then i'll stop the pub lunches at work and start saving for an apexi power fc and commander.

that's odd. were the runs done on the same dyno and roughly the same weather conditions?

what mods you had done?

phone ScoobyClinic and ask for Pat Herborn, he can put a scoobyECU in your original ECU to release more horses, but on the other hand, for what that costs (around £450 including mapping) you can get an Apexi with commander for £450.

Before I blew my engine up (Oil pump failure I hasten to add) my mods were full decat, headers/up pipe, Walbro fuel pump, induction kit, water injection Z4 ECU with ScoobyECU and I got 311BHP - from a WRX!!

Alternatively phone someone a little closer and ask them to re-map your ECU, yes it can be done and will have everybit the same functionality as the Apexi whilst retaining the factory sensor monitoring and more importantly closed loop feedback control, the OE ECU does a little more than flash the CEL if it experiences knock.

Sorry mate, was only referring to someone I've actually dealt with and have experience of, well Pat, not Scoobyclinic!

I presume MR400 is Mocom Racing, and you're Zak: if so, I'll have to pop over sometime to check you out
