BUDGET
Anyone know yet how much we are going to be paying in road tax? They have changed the road tax system form £0-£210 depending on how much the car pollutes?
Also reducing cleaner fules by 35p I am guessing this will be LPG?

Robbing B45tards will look at getting every penny they can.
Why differenciate when you can make a LOT more money by tarring everyone with a 4 wheel drive vehicle with the same brush

Your post is exactly the effect they are trying to get. They want people to be angry and stop buying 4x4s ... or if you do decide to buy one they want you to be hit by a tax which says THIS CAR POLLUTES!
It is the right way to do it if you ask me ... take cigarettes for example. They have realised that to put warnings and other ****e on the boxes does nothing, so instead they are going to keep raising the prices by silly amounts so that it gets to a point where some people have to stop smoking because they can't afford to.
Same principle with the road taxation.
I don't agree with road tax but I think that putting this large charge on heavily polluting vehicles is the right way to tackle the problem - from the governments perspective.

Breaking news
lol
£210 is only for brand new "gas guzzlers" and £190 for those currently owned this is nothing to do with the fact that the car is 4WD but reflects the CO2 emmisions targeting large enguine cars ie LARGE 4X4 and LUXURY cars..

they need to plug the massive overspend somehow ... road tax keeps the green vote happy and also generates a few extra billion to plug whatever black holes Mr Brown has in his Balance Sheet!

Spending under this government is over £100 Billion more a year than under the Conservatives and there has been no proportional increase in services due to the overspend.
Taxing my money and spending it badly (Spunking up the wall) is juist a sign of the times that people too readily accept as reasonable.

I thought the reason behind this was to get large cars off the road. A Scoob is the size of a normal saloon!

or subtract the length of the car from the height of the owner!! (or the other way round !)
- should stop a few mum's round here blocking the road!!

I personally think that they should tax on how many miles done per year, this would then calculate the amount of road usage and also how much pollution is put into the atmosphere, therefore for people that use their cars only at weekends or rarely don't get their ***** slapped the same amount as people that use their cars every day!!!!
No arguments please just my opinion
