Default Has anyone got a car trailor

Gearbox has finally blown to pieces, not too much of a prob in itself as it was knackered anyway.

BUT, car is supposed to be going in for repairs (bodywork) this week, and it is completely undrivable.

So if anyone has/or access to a trailor to take my car there, about 4 miles from my house, will sort out a good drink for it.

You cant tow these cars can you

If your very stuck I can hire one, then use my Defender. But it it's only 4 miles you could just tow it, all wheels down.

don't tow one, the gearbox oil doesn't flow round the box without the engine running, saying that, if your gearbox is shot, you won't be causing it too much more harm.

iirc I was told you can tow one for 5 miles at a max speed of 15mph. (that was from the AA man and his text book).

If you are stuck, my brother has a tri axle trailer with 3 ton capacity.

that is a good point

Just thinking though, the engine will be running for brakes and steering, so this should be no different to say coasting on the motorway

Like you say though the gearbox is already a little bit broke

have you made the bodyshop aware of the gearbox problems?? when my classic was due to go in and the gearbox s**t itself just before, they re-arranged once the box was sorted as they need to move the car around a fair amount...
