Default Xtreme Scoobies

Hi
i dont know if anyone else feels, that this could be a good idea
But i Know XTREMES dont do a credit Facility

But for a few of us, Who own a SCOOBIE i feel this could be a good thing for them to look into.
& for people like me,
as getting paid weekly means after paying bills, petrol, etc...
i would'nt have the money to get things done & saving up is a BAD POINT for me.

Just was wondering on any1 else's thoughts?

I think you may find that you are banging your head against a brick wall Baz mate.

I may be wrong but i remember that when i had a computer shop it was very difficult trying to get credit facility even though i had a merchant account.

with xtreme they really dont have goods to sell,(not saying they don;t sell goods) they provide a repair service and credit companys tend to only accept clients that have a product to sell, ie... high street shops, banks, etc.

I may be wrong mate, as things have changed since i had my shop back in 2001, but speaking to other business associates they too have had problems with setting up a credit facility.

I am open to any debate, as this is only what i'm going on with info from 2001.

I know how you feel baz, saving is tough when you want all these nice goodies for your scoob. Thats coming from someone who lives at home too. You have a roof and children to provide for.

Baz,

I am sure Knowlsey will correct me if I'm wrong BUT Xtreme are unlikely to be able to offer credit directly. They have wages, rent, rates and suppliers to pay after all. If any credit deal was likely to be set up it would be with a independent finance company and their rates are likely to be.......aggressive. You would be better off just wacking it on a credit card and setting up a direct debit to ensure it is paid in a reasonable time.

Hope this helps

He would then have to go through the processes of credit checking every person that wanted to set up a payment plan and the cost and admin involved would mean it pretty much pointless for anything under £500.00. Then if any of the debts were to turn bad (which a guaranteed %age would) he would have to call in debt collectors against people that he knows and sees at every meet.

Waste of time if you ask me.

If a credit facility was setup, and the agreement was signed, xtreme would not be responsble for customers missing there payments. Xtreme would be paid out in full, it would be down to the finance company to make a default collection.

That's what I mean ... it would be a horrible decision to have to make. Informing the finance hedge provider that a person you may know well has missed payments and the debt has turned bad. That person could well be taken to court and have their name tarnished. I know I wouldn't like to have to do that to somebody that I know!

Pay in cash ... then you don't owe anybody anything. Plus you get greater satisfaction driving your car when it's 100% yours.

i was just saying it would be a good THOUGHT!!
as if i was running a FORD the pert i need would cost me £10 & i would be able to fit it myself,
as i have a SCOOBY the part i need is £100's + & needs to be fitted PROPERLY by PROPER mechanics,
& if they had a credit facility i would work out well for me.

I know car companys etc... dont do credit as some companys have told me (when doing up my astra wanted to buy all the mods in one go?) i was told its very very hard for people like that to get that sort of credit facility HENCE most garages etc... dont offer credit...

i was just saying it would help me & my low income OUT.

Welcome to the world of maintaining a Japanese Engine!! I sat down and worked out how much I was spending on my 98 Turbo 2000 and I actually saved money by buying a newage car with a warranty.

Originally XS had looked at offering credit facilities, though coming from the Finance world, once you looked into offerering credit facilities:

1. The credit facility (often a bank) need credit references
2. Proof of income & time in employment
3. The terms were usually 3-4% more than you would be able to source personally
4. Paper work per credit facility given was incredible

XS decided not to go this route as:

1: It would be somewhat embarassing if a customer failed
2: Your personal finances are your own
3: If you are a card chaser for 0% APR for 6 months & swap, it would be cheaper to do this
4: Paying 3-4 % more than you could obtain a loan & so on are somewhat high
5: Red tape, beaucraucy & getting involved if a customer defaulted - Ouch

Of course, everyone is protected by the Data Protection Act, but if you were refused, would you look us in the eye again. XS would rather not put it to the test.

read in the paper that the goverment want to give a 20% pay increase to make the minimum wage £76,000 a year

i would need a 60% pay increase to meet that target
