If you’re anything like me, you’re currently suffering from a monumental case of ‘the Mondays’ after enjoying a glorious weekend in the sunshine.

As I sat in my humble ‘attempt’ at a back garden yesterday afternoon, listening to the various delights roaring past along the main road, it got me thinking; ‘Wait, why am I not out doing this?’

Upon venturing to the car to discover it was covered in cobwebs, mud, dirty rain spots and general ‘misc’- not fit to be seen, too hot to clean- I subsequently retrieved the half bag of warm Haribo out of the driver’s door, concluded that I was indeed a terrible person and retired back to the garden with a beer instead.

It was here that it dawned on me that it’s been 2 years since we last entertained the idea of a Sunday drive and with nothing in the pipeline for June with regards to pub meets, maybe we could give it another go and use it as an opportunity to utilise some nice weather and try something a little different.

[I’m aware that the London to Brighton run is being held at the end of June and naturally I wouldn’t want these things to clash.]

The 2014 thread showed a lot of potential and enthusiasm, but sadly seemed to fizzle out and from what I can recall, it didn’t go ahead in the end. (I myself guilty of being one of the ‘Lenny-Let-downs’)

The original route consisted of heading up towards Colchester via Goldhangar and the likes, with the intention to venture towards Sudbury. I’m sure we could expand on this idea? And I’m sure we would be able to locate some form of establishment with an adequate car park and garden of sorts to stop for refreshments.

It would be interesting to see what the general thoughts are on this concept, whether people are interested and if so, maybe we could get some names down on a list and refine the finer details with regards to meeting, route, times, yada-yada.
As always, suggestions are always welcome and we can always discuss this further at May’s Pub Meet.

Although this isn’t set in stone yet, I feel I should remind you that this is a proposal for a leisurely and respectful drive; don’t let the title mislead you. Dangerous driving and acts of general idiocy will not permitted or tolerated.

The date I had in mind was Sunday 19th June.

That appears to be Father's Day, so may want to rethink the date if folk are struggling to make it?

 

I hadn't even considered that- I'm such a numpty.

In that case, scrap the 19th then.

I guess that leaves either the 5th or the 12th and I think there's a few shows on around the 12th.

I fear this concept may have been doomed from the start.

 

5th is Supercar Sunday at Goodwood, 25th is Goodwood festival of speed.
Busy month for some.
They're the only ones I know about but no doubt there are some Cakfest, flashy lamp, driftwally events elsewhere. Lol

I know there's that Japanese Auto Fest event at the Museum of Power on the 12th.
And American Speedfest at Brands...

I didn't fully take into account just how busy June was, but hey-ho.
Lets just see how many are interested. I'm sure we can all figure something out, even if it means postponing until early July.
