Default Need some help / advice....

Hey all,

I'm looking at getting myself another scooby after years away from the marque (normal growing family reasons).

I want to buy a nice sorted classic, fast, car with a budget of 6k (ish). Any thoughts where best to find one and rejoin the Essex club with?

I've been looking at possibly a fresh import from Japan to avoid rust etc, but am shooting in the dark. Also needs to be reliable as a daily runner, not just a weekend car etc.

Chrs in advance for any recommendations.

Mal

Hi mal, have a look at hurst cars (a well respected trader), there's private car for sale ads on here. There's always ebay but caveat emptor!! Central car sales at eastwood on the a127 often have a couple of imprezas in I've noticed too.

Always an exciting time looking for a new car but go in with your eyes and mind open, don't rush it, the right car often has a habit of finding you!

Thanks for that, I did come across Hurst in my hours of searching, but then as you say, the right car seemed to find me and I picked up a P1 yesterday.

Can't get hold of slowboys at Brands though, as I want to get it straight in for a couple of things..

chrs, Mal

If it hasn't already, a re-map for UK fuel as when supplied, it was basically a V5 STi with octane enhancement capsules in the tank. These eventually became ineffective (they were 'sacrificial') and some problems were experienced by a number of P1 owners. A good one is quite desirable.

Had a good chat with Paul this eve at Extreme, so taking it up Sat for a thorough going over, first on my list to do is

Some love on the gearbox
Clutch
All fluids and cambelt, plugs etc
Refurb the calipers, poss new discs and pads
Remap

I'm basically looking at this as a decent base car to spend some decent cash on and get it mint, will look at full body re spray and underseal once I'm happy mechanics are spot on.

Will hopefully make a club meet in due course, and really start to enjoy it.

Nice one, you weren't in the fambridge area recently, saw a p1 on kitts hill with a private plate? Pauls a good guy for servicing and such like.
