A lot depends on how loud you want to go, I had a 3 inch system with sports cat which sounded nice but after 6 years two mountings snapped. So went de-cat but 3.5 inch, it is loud which for a daily drive would be unsuitable but for a bit of fun is fine. It does have a adjustable bung in the tail pipe so can be made to be more friendly.

Is your car newage?
If you have the full prodrive system it prob has a resonator in the mid pipr , if u wanted more noise you could have them taken out. The prodrive and magnex ones are made with good thickness of metal and extra baffles so they give a more meaty muffled sound as opposed to the high pitch tinny noises some systems give....all imo of course but im mid 30's now and loud exhausts arent my thing anymore :-)

I've had a few over the years, Prodrive is quiet without a decat or de-res centre section and sports cat, Afterburner gives a nice deep rumble but can be a bit loud, Blitz NUR is just mental on a decat way too loud, Japspeed was a bit tinny and raspy, best for me is my current 3" full decat Miltek @93db at 4.5k RPM quiet when it needs to be and roars when pushed

+1 for H&S mate, I have just had a 3.5 inch rolled quad fitted at their workshop in Basildon which is very close to you and they don't charge for fitting. On my old car I went for the H&S 4.5 inch slash cut angled exit, sounded awesome. Speak with Ian @ H&S Tel - 01268 727256

What are everyones views on the Afterburner Vortex and Raptor exhausts made by H&S?? I've a Scorpion on mine at the moment, came with the car but I would like an angled exit and possibly a deeper note. Not sure if the Raptor is going to be silly loud? I live in a built up area and although when I come home late at night I keep the speed right down to a minimum to avoid waking the neighbours up (I don't want the aggro)
The Afterburner Vortex is a 2.5" system and the Raptor is a 3"

Started with a H&S with Prodrive downpipe, the rest decatted. Was a good blend of sound etc. Then tried a Cobra Racetube for a bit of fun....that's all it was...sounded mental, but too ridiculous as a whole.
Now with a NurSpec-S, it's absulutley brilliant, by far the best I've had. Sounds perfect for the flat4, and it looks top stuff too, very nice exhaust.
I don't think it's that stupidly loud either, depends if you driving it in high revs round the town?, motorway speeds revs are pretty low at 70mph so again not too bad.
