Default Does the ECU use the intake temp sensor on a Classic Sti V5?

I've got a STI V5 and mine is missing the temp sensor from the pipe on the inlet just after the headlight intake. I think it should have one but does anyone know if the ECU uses the readings from it for fuelling? It doesn't log a fault but ECU explorer shows -40 all the time.
