Default Remaps for certain fuels (mappers join in please)

Hi there.

Right, i certainly get the 'better fuels give better results' theory and i am sure that most cars get mapped for more power hence will mostly be running better fuel.

However if a car is mapped for say VPower, I assume the car should be run on this as a minimum as fuel quality 'less than this' could cause all sorts of problems with dets etc.

So the scenario! You have a car mapped to VPower and are doing a long journey. You get caught short for fuel and there is not a Shell garage to hand so you are in the realms of putting in whatever the next motorway services has to offer!

If fuel type/map that critical that you should at minimum drive off boost until you get some decent go-go juice added?

Are fuel boosting additives worthy to carry for such times etc?

Do fuel additives actually work?

All it will do is pull some timing,
The car may not feel as lively for a while unless you do a ecu reset when you next have a full tank of V power etc.

If I get caught short. Put the minimum in to get me to tesco's (mapped for 99) ,,, personally I wouldn't put additives in just to get me home as I still wouldn't be sure what Ron my fuel was so I'd just drive like my mate mazmike (drives like a girl) till I got home lol

ah this old chestnut, there are differing opinions, what i cna tell you is this,

Some cars mapped on vpower run crap on tesco 99,

some cars mapped in tesco99 run crap on vpower

Running on lower than mapped for ron can kill your engine

Putting in 95 and driving off boost and steady should be ok, but make sure you flush through a couple of 99 tanks before you give it large to make sure the 95 ron is gone.

Octain boosters do work, assuming mixed correctly, if you need to

Its all a bit hit and miss, some cars get away with running lower ron some dont. Simply put run it on 99 ron,, lol
