Default Fault code 32

Hi folks, bought a new maf for my car and tried to reset my ecu using the plugs under the steering wheel on my 2000 turbo. I checked the fault codes first and had code 32 as the only fault with I've read as being A/F sensor failed. So I tried to reset the ecu anyway but once I've plugged both pairs together and turn the ignition on, the check engine light, light's up straight away whilst I hold the throttle at full throttle and then half throttle. Then I when I start the car and go for a drive then check engine light stays off and never flashes. I understand that the check engine light is supposed to be off whilst your doing the throttle bit and then come on once you've done that.? So am I doing something wrong. Also how much does 2 A/F sensors cost? Any help would be appreciated. Andy T

It's not a black classic is it?

My mate had one, changed all sorts and never solved that fault code popping up. He then sold it.
