Default ECU solution - temporary. eBay advice please quick.

He all.

While I wait patiently for a licenced ecu to come up for sale, will this work on my 99facelift classic with just exhaust, panel filter and STi intercooler?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item3383de9f8b

Cheers.

J

That ecu is not mappable.

It was optimised for panel filter and back box. I just want to ensure it will fit my car and what the advantage is quantitatively.

Cheers.

why is that ECU not mappable? i was under the impression 99/00 are mappable with ECUTEK. Hence the title in the ebay advert.

My bad, it is with ecutek licence etc, but this has not been fiddled with. It came off a standard car as I called the seller. I just want to know in today's money what the advantage is over the stock 99ecu.

Cheers,

no advantage apart from the license has been paid..

What you got to ask yourself is why would somebody pay at least £150 for a lisence on an ECU without getting it mapped at the same time. I think the seller is telling you porkies

I appreciate that.well I was waiting for An ecu with the license already on so I can have it remapped. If this is the case, then I'd happily buy it and go to TDi South which is less than 2 miles from me.

My question again is how good was TEK1 over the standard ecu.

Cheers.

you're trying to tell me somebody paid the Ecutek license to be applied but never bothered to actually do anything with the ECU

thats a first.

Ok, I appreciate this thread makes me sound silly, but what I was looking for was clear definition between the tek1 and standard my99 ecu.

I emailed ECUTEK with the same question and didn't expect an answer, but a kind advisor not only answered the phone, but emailed me back quickly with what I wanted to know.

TEK 1 has a leaner AFR, more ignition advance and stock boost pressure is held for longer at higher rpm, producing around 250 bhp.

Also I can have it remapped by any ECUTEK dealer.

So I have bought it with the intention of getting remapped. I called TDi who are happy to do it if I have the software.

I will call Simon at JGM for a remap when the opportunity arises.

Cheers.

If you have/get a ecu with ecutek on it, I can get them mapped for £250 for your car and mods.

The licence will probably not be available, a Tek 1 was a reflash which was mild to say the least but the licence availability could be barred. So be wary as although its been EcuTek'd the licence may well be not usable.

It all depends on which tuner actually flashed it
