I am putting a STI engine from a 2002 into a WRX on a 2001 both newage the STI engine is modded and mapped and running 380bhp, If i put the engine straight in im guessing it will run but if i put the STI ecu on the WRX would i need to change anything else......


Like a transponder unit and the head of the key or anything?

 

The key is matched to the ecu yes. So whatever ecu you use then use the matching key. Im not sure the wrx ecu will run the sti engine due to the avcs. fitting the sti ecu is probable going to mean so wiring also.

 

what kind of wiring? the plug for the ecu?

 

Dont think the wrx have the vvt heads, but the sti does.
