Default ECL but no ecu faults

A while ago whilst driving my fan belt snapped, got home as i was nearly there.
I replaced the fan belt and since then the idle revs have been high (1400/1500 rpm).

Yesterday i connected my laptop to the car and reset the ECU via ecuexplorer, i didnt have any faults there and the revs are still high after ecu reset, last week i cleaned out the idle control valve also.

I removed the maf sensor then switched on the car to see if i was reading from ecu ok, and error came up for maf, so i switched off car and reconnected maf sensor.

i dont understand why i have ECL on but no errors, knocks were 0 also.

Do i need to drive car for a while to let it adjust itself ? car is currently off the road having some bodywork done.
thanks Milney

I assume fan belt is the belt that drives power steering etc.

have you put it on too tight?

Are all bits of the old auxillary drive belt accounted for? If some of the bits got in the cambelt area the cam timing could jump and cause a raise in idle speed.
