sg5 forester ecu issue =(
hello hello ppl!
i need advice, pointers, solutions (would be great ha) to an ecu problem that my forester has. apparently a few foresters were released in 2005 that have this ecu problem. ppl on sf.org have been onto me saying they have the same problem with their uk 2005 forester.
i need to go back in time a bit i guess to tell the whole story and explain the problem. when i bought the car first i noticed that when accelerating, clutching and shifting up the revs would jump up by about 1.5k, and only drop after a few milliseconds. before releasing the clutch id have to wait for this to happen as otherwise it would yank the rpm down/gearbox up forcefully. i however thought im just not use to the car and just took my foot off the accelerator (reduced throttle) about 1-2 seconds before shifting. this would make the rpm drop normally.
so, i went to get the car remapped. the mapper had noticed the problem and first said its an IACV issue. we plugged it out, drove the car and the problem had gone. i cleaned the valve and thought that would sort it all out. but it didnt.
the mapper then had a good 2nd look at the problem. he noticed that the idle duty was totally wrong, and that it was not possible to open the tab/options on the laptop which would allow adjusting and the solving of the problem. he explained that its a software/ecu fault and that he would need to raw write the ecu with new software. (i think thats what he said, im not very familiar with all this lingo )
car details: Forester 2.0 XT (EJ205 avcs) year 2005
no fault codes, fully serviced
mods: catback exhaust, K&N kit, boost controller, pro remap on dyno.

Hi, thats not a basic ecu problem the guy who told you that was not correct. Nor is it any "problem" with any component in particular.
It relates to the over run fuel cut system and settings.
These can be adjusted easily if the software in use has the definition description for them.
Happens a lot on the new age Impreza WRX, not every car suffers though.
So the car needs mapping to over come it
cheers
