V1 Loom, V5 ECU?
Hi all, i'm new on here and would like a bit of ye're expert knowledge!
I have a Version 1 GC8 rally car which goes well, but I have purchased a MoTeC plug and play ECU with anti-lag etc, but for a Version 5.
Can I get an adaptor harness to join one to the other or do I need to do a complete loom changeover.
If its the latter option, will the V5 loom plugs match all the V1 engine sockets i.e is it a BIG job?
Thanks in advance.

The loom which runs from the engine bay to ecu incorporates a lot of the other car wiring so not an easy swap. I was considering doing this too to my V2. I found the easiest way would be to cut the ecu wiring plugs off a v5/6 impreza with a decent amount of wiring, cut the plugs off of your V1/2 impreza and solder and heat shrink the new connectors in. There are some differences between the 2 like the idle control valve, throttle sensor , air flow meter, lambda sensor - 3 wire to 4 wire, coil packs etc. Not sure if in your motec you can do this or just use the V5/6 sensors too. Possible to do if you like wiring and working out what sensors to use.
edit. it may be possible to get the adaptor changed on your motec depending what version you have. speak to a motec dealer about this.

Hi, you could make an interface loom up but pin compatibility is likely to be a problem and the plug and play mother board is not laid out with your idle control system in mind its for the stepper motor control of the later car.
But, it should be doable just a bit tortuous, you really need the gold box version with adaptor loom.
The loom is much work and the cost would be very large if a commercial company did it. If you can do this yourself I can supply connection info for the two systems if that helps.
If you were to get hold of the male ecu plugs from an STi5/6 or P1 then that would be a good start then you can splice back into the original loom.
cheers
