Default ecuexplorer help needed !

Hi I've just managed to connect ecu explorer to my ecu, the diagnostic functions works fine, but i have problems with the ecuflash functions...

when i click on "read ecuflash memory" (wich is supposed to download the stock map from the ecu to the pc, am i right?) , the program tells me to do the following:
- connect the green connector under the dash (done)
-connect the white ecuflash block ( What is this?? there is no white disconnected connectors under the dash)
-turn ignition on

just connecting the green connector and turning ignition on makes the fan and fuel pump to prime continously (i almost fear that it could destroy itself ) , and the program opens a sort of debug window wich says "denso002_bootload_......" over and over again, and nothing happens...

There is a little black connector (wich is disconnected) in the same wiring of the green connector... i've tryied to connect it but it doesnt do any difference...

what am I missing?
any help is appreciated

What lead are you using as some will read/log but won't be able to flash unless its a modded cable,

Try here for a bit of info on the flash block as it seems a couple of other people had simaler issues, I realise this is Openecu but it will give you an idea.

Afaik you can't flash a 2000 , you may be able to read from ecu. ( not tried ) but deffo not flash with ecu flash
Tbh I would stop doing what you're doing because you may end up with a bricked ecu
