Default 53 blob jdm Sti data logging information info please :)

Hi all

First off I would just like to apologise for the long post but I have a few questions I would like to ask regarding how to log on my car.

It is running the standard ecu with an ecutek map and the car is 2004/53 blob jdm Sti, I won't bother listing the mods unless you think its necessary.

1. What cable do I need to do this, is there a specific one as I read some will only read fault codes where others log, map, fault diagnostics, which leads me on to

2. What software do I need to download to be able to read fault codes and view the logs, is there a different package for the 2 or are they both covered by the 1?

3. I am also looking for an AFR gauge which I posted about previously, I have narrowed it down to the innovite LC-1 or the AEM UEGO kit, can these kits be added to the ecu to allow logging files? I read they can but was not sure if its the case on standard ecu? Are those kits I've mentioned ok or are there any others you would recommend, and if them 2 are sound then which of them would most people say is the better item, or are they pretty much both alike.

I have an engine management light on towards the higher end of the rev range, as soon as I lift off it disappears, it is not a flashing cel indicating knock from what I have read, it is a solid management light and the car won't also rev clean through the range, it is intimately doing it and is not always constant, but when it has a period that it does want to play up it does it as regular as clock work, its not apparent that its related to the colder weather as its doing it when its warmer also, I'm just waiting to get the scanner on it to see what codes it gives me back. It done it again today not on WOT but was quite restrictive on power and could feel it was not right, but then it cleared up as if it pushed through it so to speak and instantly livened up with out the use of extra throttle

I'm looking to do this on a budget, I'm not saying I won't spend the money because that's by the case, but what I will say is I don't want to be buying a cable from harrods when the one from pound land does the same job if I need a particuar cable I will buy it no probs, but would like to know all the info before I purchase anything.

I'm just looking to broaden my horizons and learn new things, I'm not wanting to be mapping or pissing about or anything like that, not that I wouldn't like to in the future, but that's going to be a long way off! I just want to understand what the car is doing, where faults may lye etc i have a good mechanical back ground and handy on the tools but I've always been interested in this side of it and what better time to start than now

So any info, hints, tips or tricks you handy fellow scooby netters know of would be much appreciated, and any sights you can recommend or links to read would be much appreciated

Once again sorry for the long post

Cheers all and MERRY CHRISTMAS

Craig

Hi Craig

If you have Cobb/EcuTek or Open Source tune, you can always datalog via RomRaider and learning view.

LC-1,AEM UEGO and many other wideband are supported by RomRaider, just have look on this

http://www.romraider.com/Documentati...aiderFAQ#toc62

You should be OK with normal VAG OBD cable from eBay this cost less than £10 and will be OK for datalogging or reading the ECU,but not for flashing, for flashing(mapping) yes you can use this cable with some modifications, but would speak with Tony@toneh about that

Here is few threads which should help you

I've got an LC-1 fitted paid £125 for it from the US of A and £20 for removal of downpipe to fit bung for sensor, As above you can use Romraider and the VAG cable or as you have an Ecutek map you can also use Ecutek Delta Dash too for around £100 second hand, Do a search on it, Has some good features.
