300bhp ish wrx advice needed.
Hi after much thought, I'm thinking of going down the route of turning my wrx on the standard td04 what supporting mods are needed to get the best out of the map?

I have a JDM WRX Blob Wagon on it's way over at present and have been pondering the same. I want to keep the car MOT-compliant so was planning on leaving the up-pipe and down-pipe cats in place and getting a centre decat/new backbox. Does a de-cat up-pipe change the emissions/spool characteristics that much on its own?
I had otherwise planned on a new uprated fuel pump and a full service prior to a trip to Andy Forrest. Won't be 300bhp but should accelerate nicely, especially with the lower JDM gearing.

It's a blobeye, at the moment it's mapped to 250bhp with a print out this was done years and years ago so I just want to get the best I can out of the standard turbo, so fuel pump and a single decat before a map?

My Hawk 2.5 Wrx runs 340/370. Vf 35 turbo. Walbro fuel pump, pink sti injectors.decat - straight pipe. To give you an idea. I think the standard pump tops out just short of 300ish aswell as the std td04 turbo.

I got my 1999 WRX mapped to 265. With a panel filter and 200cell sports cat so MOT wasn't a problem. That was as much as the TD04 would give. An up-pipe is a good idea but expensive to fit. You don't need an uprated fuel pump. You won't get near 300bhp without spending some money, including a turbo. I recommend a TD04 hybrid. See recent post for dyno results. Still might not make 300, but car will drive really nicely in normal use, quicker than an Sti.

could always hybrid your td04 but for the price of that you may aswell ask craig belworthy to build you one. hes a good lad and built me a vf43 for a good price.

Standard Hawkeye here with just panel filter mapped to 270/345 at crank. TD05 will only get it to 300 max i believe with other mods. I presume you are asking a lot from a td04 to give you 300 without exhaust mods etc... Mines a daily and did not want any hassle with MOT.

i think a td05 will go a fair bit more than that- its the next turbo up in the range- occasional 2.0 will make 350 with a td05 but no 2.0litre will get close to the torque of a 2.5 ,you can probably add 50ft/ib to any graph with a 2.5- not sure how many runs you would get with a td04 on a top mount cooler, its all done by 5500 rpm, more of a mid range turbo ,higher boost just leads to 70 degree+ inlet temps and the ecu pulling timing
