Default Jdm to 95ron

I'm considering having my JDM hawk mapped for 95ron.
Yes I'll loose power and the haters will say a performance car needs v power but needs must and 95ron works best for me.

I've spoke to 2 mappers who say it cant be done / they won't do it but surely it's just an engine like a UK engine and just needs it's brain re-educated?

Anyone know of a good mapper that will map a jap to 95ron?

Have you had it done?

No dont add water, as funny as it might be I would not want to deliberately hurt a suraru engine

Or is this a "i've got a jdm look at me" threads ?
For your reference the uk sti cars are not supposed to run on 95 either, inside the fuel flap it says 98 ron and as that's not available in the uk the only option is 99.
What if V power is no longer available in my area....
It's my car my choice.

And I don't give a shoot what car I have. I'm really not bothered if you have a wrx Sti or jdm. Everyone has a ***** and I'm not bothered about who's bigger.
I started this thread for myself and others who are in the same boat.

Theres hundreds of threads on it going back to 2005 but none are recent. Many of those mappers could be long dead or not dealing with Subaru so I thought I'd start a new thread to not only help me but others also.

But yes look at me I have a JDM 😁 and if I wanted to show that my ***** is bigger then yours I would have added I had it imported just for me and I paid cash...

Oh looks like I just showed off.

But if you look through my history you will see i have already done the, hey look at my massive ***** thread.

Maybe an explanation would help.
Tesco sell 99 ron and there is one everywhere so I doubt 99 ron not being available is a factor
***** waving is only good if you know what the other person has.
A 15 year old Impreza doesn't impress me,been there done that
Because I want to. Its mine so I can

Not everywhere has 99RON...

i once had Andy Forrest map my RA for 95 and 99RON with Alcatek. Theres no issues that I’m aware of, so long as it’s mapped for it, it’ll be fine.

i was running a decat, VF35 and 440’s. Had 360hp on 99 and 330hp on 95.

More so jdm cars
Guy has stated that he has no 99 they can be mapped on 95 but going to be pretty lifeless, be better getting a syvecs or similar and running flex fuel that way when you can put 99 in it it will adjust to suit the fuel.

I wouldn’t call 330hp lifeless. Based on my results, it’s less than a 10% sacrifice. Which is easier and cheaper than having to run in tank octane booster.

Dont recognize many of the names anymore.
I'm trying to remember robsy stalking thread, I'm sure he was stalking a woman and posted her facebook profile pic on here and somebody pm her a link to the thread.
Comedy gold
The thread was this:
Met a girl, went on a date all was fantastic. Even a kiss and a call you tomorrow.
Literally within an hour she blocked me on facebook and after 4 texts asking if everything was ok I had a call from an apparent police officer saying I'm stalking her.
Someone did find her name on my profile and found d her on Facebook.
The way they used her profile pictures and mine ( to make it look like i was stalking her in her photos)was funny as hell
But that's long gone now.
Top points for remembering her name.

Oh and cars dont set because of 95ron. They det because they are not mapped correctly for it

i've mapped a few on 95 simply because it's all that's available to the car so it's definitely quite possible. Speak with some different mappers if it's what you really want to do if they are comfortable mapping subarus it shouldn't be an issue for them.

Thank you for a simple reply.
Can I ask where you have it done as I'd rather travel to someone who's done multiply rather then one that can do 95 but hasn't in a while

norn' iron - so a bit far i think but honestly check around with more mappers it's more likely they just don't trust the car if they think you are intentionally cheaping out on fuel maybe you're not so regular on your oil changes etc.

I use tesco 99 ron fuel...and for the sake of 5p less for unleaded there really is no point in using unleaded.. as you will gain that much back in milleage for the extra money the tank cost you..

Epidemic and I assume you mean shortage. Either way, no. I'm talking about areas of the UK where higher octane fuel is not available.

Many moons ago when i had my impreza mapped i was asked if i wanted a 95ron map for use on long journeys so it can be done just fine

Unfortunately that mapper no longer maps so if i was you i'd just call around and see who will do it

Part of the reason I did this thread.
Terry down the local park claims he can do a 95map for £300 and for £50 more he can add pops and bangs.
But I'm hoping someone here can recommend someone who's been in the game doing 95rons for a while
