Default Impreza RX 2.0 2008 petrol

Hi there, just bought my first ever Subaru, a car I've always wanted, it's a 2008 Impreza RX petrol 2.0. Looking for advice on anything I can do to improve the cars performance and get the best from it, also any advice on good servicing of it. Any help would be appreciated, cheers, Ross.

You servicing it yourself?

Performance air filter then full exhaust change with sports cat, then contact a mapper, not sure if worth putting an uprated fuel pump on. You should see close to 170bhp.

Cheers for that, no wont be servicing it myself but would like to know good engine oils, coolants etc to use, don't want to be using cheap and nasty stuff in it, never tried on a Subaru before but normally change my own filters etc if they need it between services, cheers

I'd upgrade the air filter with performance one. Opie Oils are on here i'm sure they will recommend some oils for you. I use Shell or Gastrol, but alot on here use Millers, not cheap stuff, i prefer to change my oil twice every 4000 miles with Castrol. rather than once with Millers.

Also check when last had cambelt done? How many miles does it have?

Can u recommend any air filters, I can only really find k&n filters, cheers will have a look at oils. There's 58,000 on the clock, I told the garage I would like the cambelt to be replaced before I pick it up and they said they would have a look at it so I'm expecting it not to be changed and have to pay to get it done myself but atleast then I'll be happier knowing it's actually been changed

I know the cambelt layout is much more complex on Impreza's to most cars, or so I've heard, but is it really such a big job, I had a look online at various cambelts and they don't seem to be too pricey, lower than I was expecting but I suppose the labour is what puts the cost up so much

The thing is they recommend all the pulleys be replaced at the same time. As Perforamnce have some kits on offer. I'd contact them ask if they can get some in for yours.

For the cambelt kit most places charge £250, silly money. ICP also do cambelt kits. I bought mine from ICP cost £150 and garage charged about £100 in labour i think it was. Hence why its worth buying one with it done. Also on a service if it hasn't been done in a while gear box and diff oils will need to be done.
