So recently done a engine swap and i took it out for its first drive, was going great till one of my intercooler pipes came off which caused the car to bog down and stop. i got out the car reconnected it.
Now here's the important part on my main relay to get my fuel pump to run i have to have a wiring joining 2 of the pins together which i unplug and re connect every time i start the car (p.s this was a temporary thing was just testing car) now when i get back in the car the wire popped out of 1 pin and hit a ground causing it to spark. After this my car simply would not start and would not prime the fuel. I checked i hadn't blown my fuel pump so i primed it manually by tapping it into a 12v source which made it prime so i knew i hadn't blown that, the next thing is i checked EVERY fuse in the car and found they where all good. Upon running some tests it seems i am no longer receiving power from the ecu itself. I have got a 2nd identical ecu on its way to me will this fix the problem or will it just be the wires leading to the main relay?
p.s the car is a 99 sport with a 94 jdm turbo in it.
I know you say you've checked all the fuses, but have you also checked the 'fusable link' ?
Guessing you might need a multimeter to check if it's blown or not, as it's probably not visible.
That fuse in the bottom left of your pic (the one bolted in) is an 80 amp slow-blow fuse. It's the same as the fusable link on earlier cars and pretty much EVERYTHING runs through it! Have you removed it and checked if it's blown?
Checked the fuse and sadly it is still in tact, also if i may add the engine still cranks but nothing else all the dials still work ect just doesnt actually start and when i unplug the ecu and try to start it it does exactly the same.
Have you checked the power lines at the ECU? Are you still getting 12v there? That'll help determine if it's likely to be a problem with the power distribution or the ECU itself.
I'm probably stating the obvious, but if you're not getting power on the 12v lines at the ECU, then it sounds like it's an issue with the power distribution (fuses/relays etc), rather than the ECU itself being fried.
Just checking, but are you aware that all of the transparent topped 'cubes' in the engine bay fuse-box are in fact fuses, and not relays? Have you tested all of them to make sure they've got continuity? All of the 'SBF' fuses that you've got in the diagram below. They seem to be the most likely culprits:
So just a quick update i found the thinest hairline crack in one of the slow burn fuses so thanks for all your help guys. Does anyone know if euros or pmas sell them?
