Default Tactrix Cable & Datalogging STI 2003

Is there anyone out there who uses a tactrix cable and their laptop to datalog

What are the best ways of doing this ?
I don't plan on remapping so is there a way to make sure you don't mess with that side of things ? I've read about the jumper clips for flashing if I don't touch these am I safe ?

from what i can find on google, romaider is popular is it a simple case of download onto laptop plug tactrix from obd to usb then switch on and go ??

My car is mapped on ECUtek will this affect things ?

Any info would be appreciated

Car is a 2003 UK STI Blobeye

just buy a vag cable bud and use romraider on laptop. they go on ebay for 7-8 quid roughly much cheaper than a tactrix cable and fine if just for logging. wont effect your ecutek map either as your not changing anything and your map will be locked by mapper anyway. any questions drop me a pm. im using it on my ecutek mapped bug sti.

with the car ECUtek mapped you won't be able to write to it with the openport+ecuflash software so your as handy just getting a cheapy vagcom lead and datalogging with romraider. You need to install romraider then go and download the car and logging definitions and after that just plug in and off you go. Fire me a PM if you get stuck

the ECU can't read oil temps as the car doesn't have an oil temp sensor to feed it info - the data romraider shows you is what it gets from the ECU so as long as the ECU is reading right then romraider reads right

So the list of parameters i see at the min before i plug in the cable may not all be there when connected to the car ?

I'm sure it will make alot more sense when i have the cable connected

Thanks mate,

What are main things you check or use it for ?

If I'm honest i will just be messing around trying to learn more about what car is uptoo.

I imagine the 0-60 and 1/4 mile recorders are not far off,

Maf, boost (manifold pressure) , EGTs, timing etc are more important than 0-60s etc
