Default overboost / fuel cut symptoms possibly

What are the symptoms of over boost fuel cut.
My 2006 wrx has cut power 4 times now, just for a second or two then comes back, and always when pushing hard when first coming onto boost ( boost surge ?), although cant be 100% as it catches you by surprise when you least expect it.
This one doesn't have a boost gauge so cant yet be sure what its boosting to.

Going to get it looked at asap but does this sound like fuel cut?

Also if it is boost fuel cut this may point to 2 port boost solenoid, any one had a solenoid stick open.

Open to suggestions
Cheers Mart

Feels like hitting a brick wall. What boost is it mapped to? And what boost are you hitting ?

Put up the full spec of you car and if it's been mapped.
How long you had the car?

Standard car other than 3" full decat exhaust panel filter and walbro fuel pump.
Car has been mapped to suit the decat.
Has no boost gauge fitted so cant say for sure what the figure would be.

Hard to tell without a gauge.
How long ago was it mapped? Might just need WG duty tweaking.

Default problem sorted

All sorted now.
It was fuel cut, but was not cutting on full throttle it was happening when you slightly lift off apparently.

So big thanks to all down at ScoobyClinic for taking a good couple of hours to sort it for me on a saturday, i was only expecting a diagnostic but as usual got a top service.

So what exactly was causing the fuel cut and how was it fixed?

fuel cut on a 2.5 would've been because of the giant exhaust, they go mad when you take the restrictions out and can easily hit 18psi with very little wastegate duty. Most likely fixed by a tweak to the map to adjust the min/max wgdc. Ideally also changing the target boost and the fuel cut limits to allow you to run a bit more with corresponding changes to fuel target and timing tables to get the most from it.
