hi guys i have a 02 subaru impreza wrx 2l turbo i have a really bad misfire on cylinder 1 now a few mechanics have had a look and said its rather your piston rings or valve seals it does not smoke all the time only when putting your foot down you get abit of blue smoke is they anyway of getting to the valves without taking the engine out or is this not possible

have you done a compression test to make sure that's what it is? Oil smoke could also be from a dead turbo and the oil vapour being sucked through the intake would cause misfires.

As far as I know to do the valves the head has to come off.
