Default Second Cat... Remap?

Hi, as title suggests would I need to remap my blobeye STi if I remove the second cat?
Currently running a vortex afterburner cat back deresonated, would if throw up any fault codes? Planning to replace the dp for a sports cat at a later date which I know will need a remap, but just curious on the second cat as I'm low on monies so doing bit by bit up until I have enough for a sports dp and remap and uprated fuel pump etc.

Thanks. John.

Should be okay with no problems (I've not had any on my hawkeye) but obviously it would be ideal to get it mapped to maximise the power!

Ah that's ok then, I've just been looking on scoobyworld and seen a full length afterburner sports cat that deletes the second cat.
Would this be beneficial over a sports dp and second decat or is there not much difference in it.. obviously I'd need to get it remapped if I did go for the full length sports cat.

Cheers John.

i think it might depend how many cells are in the cat. Standard primary cat should be OK without the second cat, a sports cat will have less cells so your more likely to get a rear o2 code. The map would transform the car though, it's night and day difference between the standard flash and an uprated one even on a stock car.

I'm looking at getting the afterburner sports cat full length as to by pass the second cat. Think it's about 100 cell... That will be mated up to my vortex afterburner cat back un resonated. Plus will fit an up rated panel filter and fuel pump. Do you know what gains I could expect..?
Hoping to get around the 350 mark.

Thanks. John.

are you getting a high flow fuel pump and some grade 7 plugs as well?

For power estimates I just follow andy's site:

2nd cat delete wont be an issue, its when you remove the down pipe cat, you will need a remap to ensure the car is running as it should without any cars in place.. this also goes for a sports cat

I'm thinking of going for a full decat now, but it's going to be a lot of hassle come mot time changing back over etc. Decisions!

might as well stick with the sportscat then rather than full decat, you'll still see big gains once it's mapped up.

Yeah would save a lot off time. I'll have to have a think about it... Do you know if it would pass with just the 2 nd cat in place... That way I could get the decat do and 2nd decat... Would be so much easier swapping over the 2nd cat come mot time.??

2nd cat isn't big enough mr it's like a leftovers cat, the main/downpipe cat is doing all the work. Either replace with sports cat downpipe or get a prodrive cat and a 2nd cat delete/decat pipe.

Oh right I was wondering if I could of got away with that. Do you know if there is an advantage over the prodrive cat with an aftermarket one as I know of a prodrive cat for sale. Cheers

generally the prodrive cat will need the second cat delete also, wheras usually the aftermarket spots cat replaces the 2nd cat as well which can be handier.

Iv never had a problem with replacing any of the cats with strait thru systems but will benefit with a remap the only thing I didn't risk is when I changed to a front mount did still run fine tho
