Default open cone filter

Hey guys and girls, my wrx is mapped with a k&n pannel filter, exhaust, sti tmic, fuel pump. If I was to change to an open cone filter would the map need tweaked and do I risk it running crap all just for a bit noies? Only interested because my Leon cupra sounded really well with an open corn and recirc valve

as above, if it's a performance choice the panel filter will do you rightly. Have you snipped the snorkel pipe yet? When I did that on mine it let out a bit more of a growl :

nope, snorkle box just holds air so you don't get the sucky sound when you put your foot down. When you remove it then you get a bit more induction sound. It's still pulling cold air from the wing so you don't get the hot air downsides of a full open cone.

I believe it's a stock part maybe off a non turbo. But it's pre air filter so I wouldn't worry too much. I've had mine off for about a year now and filter is no dirtier than normal. You could always plastic weld a cut of the box onto it or mask it off with some duct tape
