Default advice needed, check engine light in traffic

Hi all, Ive had my 98 turbo 2000 for about 3 months now and all has been fine up to last weekend. I had been out for a drive ( about 40 miles ) and everything was fine, sat in some traffic for about the last mile and when i got back to the garage the check engine light came on. temp gauge was fine and no other warning lights came on. I stopped the car and restarted it and the light went off. Didn't drive the car again till this weekend, started the car on sat and no light, drove for about 15 miles across town no problems, Drove yesterday about 35 miles, qued for about 3-4 minutes to get in to car park and light came on again, temp gauge was fine and no other lights. parked up and went off for about 4 hours came back and drove the 35 miles home no probs. No light today either. can anyone offer any thoughts as to what could be causing this?
car has done 106000 and has been very well maintained with services etc.
I'm new to Subaru's so any help is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Craig

Is this error code telling me that the sensor itself is faulty or that it has done its job and detected a problem with the engine? Ive been looking at what replacement sensors are available and there are a couple of aftermarket ones, one by Lemark and one by ADL Blueprint. Are either of these good or best to stick with genuine subaru?
Thanks a lot
