Default map question on 2.5 bug

hi guys ive got a 2.5 jdm bug running a tdo5 20g turbo. basically i had in the past a ver 9 widetrack blob with ppp running at 305 bhp. it was great really aggressive and slammed you back in your seat not just when boost first came on but while boosting. now my new car is bigger turbo bigger engine and mapped to "around 400 bhp" (not had it on rollers)but very tame in comparison. i realise the 2.5 pistons are made of silly putty so ya gotta be careful but...still...... my question is can i get mapped in higher boost in lower gears? currently the defis are showing 0.4 bar in first 0.7 in 2nd 1.1 in third 1.3 in fifth and 1.4 in 6th. 5th and 6th are amazing for high gears so why cant i have more boost at lower levels? gonna speak to my mapper next week or so but would like an idea of what im talking about lol
also has anyone else got a tdo5 20g sounds really wheezy!

Either you have a faulty turbo ... or a mapper who doesn't understand what to do to maximise the lower gear boost potential.

I assume this was mapped open source, if so you are also seeing the limitations of using that.

Where did you get the 20G? Who supplied it.

if you are running 400 bhp on the std engine, then I hope you have a pot of cash ready to rebuild it as it won't last long.

The PPP is not aggressive at all by mapping standards so what you have now is definitely not right.

cheers

bob

i had 390 in my hawk and that pulled like a train, easily out paces a mapped sti 8.

one comment i would make is the power delivery is very different comparing a 2.0 to a 2.5, if your used to a 2.0 and switch to a 2.5 it may not feel like it kicks as much.

Also 2.5 wasnt ever in the bug jdm, they were all 2.0, so sounds like its had an engine build.

If it wasn't WR1 blue it would have been loads more powerful

sorry not replied been away.... yeah the original 2ltr dies on the previous owner so he replaced it with a 2.5 block but idiot didnt uprate the pistons etc unfortunately. the mapper is andy carr and generally reading reviews n such on here he seems to know what hes doing . the 20g was a secondhand unit i bought from scoobyspares at fleetwood. dont get me wrong the cars fast but nothing like i thought itd be. put it this way power wise id swap it for my ppp blob anyday of the week! that was mental. i realise the 2ltr you get lag and it slams you back in your seat where you dont get that as much on a 2.5 but the ppp kept ON pulling like a train and this one ......does but....
defo like more boost in lower gears though. as for the 400.....it wasnt dyno mapped it was real world mapped so he says its "about 400" been meaning to dyno her but not got round to it yet

slight update. been down the garage and scott took it for a drive made 1 bar in first onwards!! i was like no it didnt so we went for a drive and lo and behold it made1 bar so it seems ive got an intermittent fault. theyre suggesting replacing the 2 port boost solenoid with a 3 port, says it shouldve been done really with the turbo upgrade to td05 20g. not altogether sure what difference itll make but il let ya know
