Default Boost

Hi, Ive just installed a boost gauge on my 2002 plate WRX, and noticed its running around 1.2 to 1.3 Bar. I know its been played with by Well Lane Turbos at Leeds, and has a bleed valve and fuel cut defender on the ECU and I've got rolling road tickets for 281BHP. Is this level of boost ok? Im looking at a front mount intercooler and full de-cat exhaust from front to back, then a re-map after its done. Can i leave the defender and bleed valve on? or best to go back to standard and let the remap control boost? Cheers

Hi there

this boost is normal for mapped TD04L,like power too.

I would don't recommend have fitted fuel defender or bleed valve(manual boost controller),if its possible get your car mapped properly asap because you can suffer in longer run with failure, which will be expensive in longer run(rebuild engine is expensive job).

Don't fit FMIC until you are going for more power, your TD04 will don't make anymore power(he can make at top 290bhp+),if you are looking for more power you may have look for VF30,VF34 or VF35,STi pink injectors(Hawkeye WRX/STi are same like STI pink injectors),decated exhaust and STi TMI(or FMIC),3 port boost solenoid and Walbro fuel pump and you will be looking at 330-350bhp.

Best is let ECU control boost,he is pretty capable and can control boost up to 1.5-1.7bar.
