Just remember not fully open for christ sake's

i made this mistake last april, force of habit

jump in the car, turn on engine, click DCCD button to manual fully open every day

However..................the first bend i tried to take, power on a little too early out went the back end solberg style F******** scared myself silly

i would surgest leaving it in auto my good man

but doesnt the booklet recommend locked for loose gravel/snow etc

well im sure locked is the best as its equal split to all wheels where as auto adjusts to which wheel needs grip the most but on snow they will all slip???? or thats my understanding

with the right tyres and big bollox i would imagine the correct dccd setting would give some big grins, i however don't have either

If you lock the diff, all the wheels rotate at the same speed- which isn't ideal for cornering; basically, it will be quite stable in a straight line but won't turn corners.

DCCD setting, when using road tyres, on snow, won't make a hell of a lot of difference.

If it's thick snow then I'd go for locked, because at least you'll have some traction if you start going the wrong way, backwards.

guys just readind this, the correct snow setting is to the rear locked as in auto mode the dccd will spin about looking for traction which isnt there, where as locked means all wheels drive, if im wrong maybe subaru are kiddin us...

Driver controlled centre differential. Basically lets the driver control how much power goes to front/rear wheels.

I always thought you shouldn't turn when the diff was locked, Or is that just on day surface?

that's to avoid windup. won't happen on slippery surface.
