Default Fitting Rear ARB

Is this a diy job or does a garage need to do it? Guidance would be gratefully received, thanks.

Absolutely a DIY job. I'm slim and I didn't even need to jack up the car (blobeye). You'll need to undo bolts where the droplinks meet the arms and bolts which clamp the bar to the chassis. Once you get under there you will see it all very clearly. Don't forget copper grease or similar for the bushes to stop creaking nioses

Take a nosey around my website. I put up instructions when I did mine (MY99 RB5) and should be the same steps for your P1.

Cheers guys. Your web site is top ozzy. Would I be right in saying that for dry trackdays i would be best adjusting the arb to the stiffest setting then return it to the middle for normal road driving?

A very easy DIY job. Have a look under there, see where it needs unbolting? That's basically the whole job. Manouevering the bar out once it's hanging loose is probably the hardest bit, which is easier if you're on ramps, but it's not that bad a job, just take your time.

I used to run mine on the middle setting, but tbh I now leave it on the stiffest all year round come rain or shine. It's not that lairy once you're used to it and tbh it will still understeer if you provoke it, if you've not sorted the front end out yet.

Quick tip - You sometimes need a Trolley jack to help push the braket up far enough to get the bolt in

Thanks for the tips, one more question tho. What grease to use as I am getting it second hand and doesn't come with grease?

If you can't get the supplied stuff just use Copper grease.
Its only to stop the creaking.

If you've no copper grease drop me a PM with your address - I've a masive tub of it, so I'll post out the unused sachet that came with my front bushes.
(unless your at Scooby shootout - then I'll meet up with you)

Scooby Towers, should the greasing be done if just replacing the drop links ?

Cheers,

Mickey.

Hi Mickey,
Yes - grease the droplinks bushes as well.
Whiteline normally send a small sachet of white grease with their stuff.
Powerflex use a coppergrease looking substance.

No problem.
Should just be enough to do what you need.

Good luck with the fitting & get a pic and write up of the results posted up

All fitted now - no problems. Plenty of copper grease all round .
Sorry no pics - not that clever!!!
Can certainly notice the difference going around fast bends - much less body roll.

Now, what's next I wonder.......

Cheers for the advice,

Mickey.
