Question Best method for a standing start

Anyone got any tips on the best method for a standing start without giving the clutch, gearbox and transmission too much abuse.

I use my car for hillclimbs and the start can make all the difference, i.e it can make a second or two difference on the total time.

Obviously if you just drive off the line you loose seconds until the turbo kicks in.

I tend to rev the engine to 5,000-6,000 revs to get the turbo spinning, let the revs drop back down and go straightaway.

I have also tried launching at 5,000-6,000 revs but obviously the transmission takes a hammering.

I had been slipping the clutch slightly to avoid too much sudden abuse on the transmission but it is difficult to prevent the car creeping, so I had tried holding it on the handbrake but was advised that this is not good to do.

Any advice welcome !?.

Ive done the holding on the handbrake trick..

Its hard to explain.. best way is shove 400quid in the glovebox and say **** it just launch from 5 -7k

seriously though.. practice is the only way..
