Hey mate have you got any videos of the Coupe with Anti lag running. Those tank slappers are fantastic mate. really gives the kidneys a work out against the seat bolsters.

LOL - I recognise that, it's North Weald right? An Andrew Walsh 1st Lotus day per chance? I have fond memories of a) leaning to go big time sideways and get it back on that corner b) watching Ian Sadler spin his Terzo there more than once

As this is a driving Dynamics Forum, What did he do wrong to get into that situation and what could have been done to avoid it? ( or was the intention to spin )

He lifted the throttle up too quickly on recovery causing the tail to snap back, and the tail over corrected whilst the wheel is still pointing the wrong way. When it started spinning, it looked like he locked the brakes.

it's difficult to fight the urge to suddenly lift off the throttle, isnt it ?
I still find it difficult, but my mates are making a sport out of it albeit with RWD cars.... www.initialdrift.com.au
I wish I had access to that circuit you're on, I'd go mad in the rains

So let me get this straight. At the 15 to 16 second mark of the video he should have been accelerating again to pull out of the slide he was in?
That would take some big kahunas to do on a public road where real estate is usually very limited.

Not true of the Type R. The type R has a very agressive rear diff. Unless you have the centre diff control wound forward at least to half way, you need to use balanced throttle rather than the standard AWD "Nail it and steer" method .
All the best
Simon
remember as soon as it becomes uncontrollable in a slide such as that, you need to get on the throttle ASAP, it is the nature of an AWD car
All the best

It's certainly not the diff, the settings, or anything mechanical it's simply not correcting quickly enough when the tail has started to come back around. You have to start correcting a lot sooner than you might first think and if you lift off quickly then you should correct quickly. Both are proportional. If you get into a tank slapper it's best to brake to a stop rather than try and get out of it - unless you're Walter Rohrl.
Hats off to you CustomScoobyIOM for posting that. Vids are a great way to see what you're doing wrong. You should get out to a UKD1 drift practise day. You'll learn so much about driving sideways as well as having extreme amounts of fun.
