just a cambelt? couple hours

handiest way would be to pull the rad so will need to factor in coolant change too , your not giving too much info away, but if its what to expect at a garage it will prob depend on what else they do while its in

it would usually be done as part of a service tho

From tuners such as us around £200.00 + VAT Using a proper belt. However on GC8 cars we recommend doing the oil pump mod while we are in there, as it has a habit of coming apart as the car ages and you start to lose oil pressure.

Here that adds an hour of labour £48.00 + VAT [£57.60 inc ] and the mod to the pump is £75.00 + VAT [ £90.00 inc ] using your pump. Well worth considering if it hasn't been done previously - our pumps are coloured red crackle or black crackle, more recently.

We can / will do it while u wait by appointment. We are only about 15 miles from you.

Very rare to need a water pump, they seem to last forever. But a genuine one from Subaru is about £92.00 + VAT [ £110.40 inc ] if you insist.

We'll look after you when you need us.

Cheers, David

hahaha

should add, comment wasn't aimed at David or API, its something that is part of the maintenance cycle and i'd be more worried about a company that didnt change them when they needed it.

Like all bearings they wear out and get 'grumbly', tensioner is hydrualic and eventualy the seal perish's and cracks so leakes fluid and doesn't tension properly. Bit of a shock when the cost of a full set comes to the bill

pic shows a 'damp' rubber seal aka its leaking, when the fluid bleeds out it looses tension and bang goes the engine.

My dad had to have his done, comparing the old tensioner and the pulleys to the new its very obvious even for a none mechanic when they get bad.
