Playing with restrictors ...
#1
As search is down, what are the pros / cons of playing with restrictor sizes on my MY99, unmodified?
Is it too fiddly, and will I get similar gains by doing other stuff, e.g. tightening the w/g actuator arm, etc?
Thanks, Craig / brickboy

In short,
larger hole will give lower boost spikes initially, when going with to large hole you'll end up with less and less boost, eventually factory default around 0.5 -0.6bar if removed completely.

If you are making target boost all it will do is give you a peak, and it will probably be very variable depending on gear and conditions, and could easily oscillate. This is not a good way alone to increase boost unless it is too low and not meeting spec - ie 13.7 PSI on MY99/00, 15.7 PSI on MY99/00 PPP.
The ECU uses closed loop boost control to get it to target, and it will just drive really badly if spiking.
