MY01 Up-pipe questions
#1
I'm thinking of fitting a decat up-pipe to my MY01, partly for the performance improvement and partly because having that cat there is scaring me.
I know scoobysport do one, is anyone aware of other people that do them?
I also vaguely remember there have been problems with gaskets or something but as search is down, has anyone any experiences or views on this?
I've already got the D/P and C/S decatted, what sort of difference should I expect?
Final question, has anyone run with a sports cat in place, it would be nice to keep it legal as word on the street is roadside emission tests are going to be far more common, and cars with loud exhausts an easy target.

Don't have the up-pipe done on my MY01 (Yet ) but just recently fitted the downpipe. (Also have the centre decat as well!)I think the up-pipe is a must if you do the downpipe since from what I've heard the air to the turbo is restricted somewhat by the cat in the UP and doing both the UP and DP means that you get the air in and through the turbo a lot quicker!
It's meant to give around 12bhp on top of the DP so I think you can expect around the 260bhp mark (Assumin you don't have PPP)
Not sure of who else makes downpipes (Perhaps TSL,Magnex etc etc) but I'm gonna go for the Scoobysport one on mine!!!!
Good luck
Nick

'yet' indeed, mr adams. aren't you going to ring me?
i now run with a scoobysport up-pipe. a bit of a pig to fit, but the 'bad fit' problems aren't so significant if it's fitted on a ramp (not really a DIY job as you have to lift the engine). Not really sure how to quantify the improvement, other than 'there is an improvement'. i have noticed a slight increase in noise, but I'm told the power increase is in the region of 10bhp- and that feels about right.
changing the up-pipe also makes the fitting of a dawes (or anything else that increases boost pressure) a little less risky.
hope this is helpful...

I'm gettin in touch with the guy I know who's sellin his up-pipe in the comin weeks so if I can get it for a good price,I will be in touch with you. Will probably come and see you one day in southport anyway as I do want the up-pipe doing whichever way I look at it.
Any thoughts on this thread though about gaskets, poor fitting etc,etc......
