Default 2005 WRX - 5 Speed - How much power?

Hi guys.

Got a 55 plate WRX 2.0 5 speed. Would like to tune it but don't want to go mega-money. Just looking to get max out of std internals and transmission.

Just wondering if anyone has broken any these gearboxes and how much power they were running through it at the time.

Ive read a lot of threads about it but everyone seems to be talking about 5 speeds as if there was only 1 edition of the 5 speed gearbox.

I read on wikipedia that they changed the 5 speed in 2003?? See below.
If thats the case then Im only interested in 5 speeds after 2003.

Thanks guys

It is notable to mention that only Turbo vehicles received a hydraulic clutch until 1995. Also, in 1998 Subaru changed from a push-style clutch to a pull-style requiring minor bellhousing and fork changes.

Hi, I'm no expert but i hear about 320 is a safe level for clutch/gearbox but some guys on here have gone a lot further. Regarding you question on 5 speed gearbox versions, wouldn't have thought it would make much difference? As all designed for same power.

essentially there are 2x basic variants of the 5spd fitted to 2.0 cars..............
the info above is wrong as the "push" clutch did not appear until 2006 MY with the 2.5WRX (6spd STi still uses the "push" type)

752 casings (89-98) generally regarded as the weakest, then the 754 (98-05) although there is a revision 754 around 03 supposedly stronger again...........

a lot depends on how you drive/treat the transmission and how well serviced
