Default How to identify rear diff?

Is there any way of knowing what exact code a rear diff is going by the numbers written on it? I had heard there was a way of de-ciphering the numbers but cant find anything on the net. I have about 6 diffs all in a big pile on my garage floor, mixture of 5 and 6 speeds both uk and jdm and really need to sort them out.
Cheers

Only way I know is removing the rear cover and the ratio is stamped onto the pinion gear.

Apart from that I really don`t know.

Ok thanks guys, there is a thread suggesting it is possible somewhere on NASIOC but I can't find it again. Nice trick with removing the cover tho, will get me out of trouble.
