Default Exedy Flywheel Hotspots

Hi all, Ive been offered an exedy flywheel used at a reasonable price. Its covered 65k and has what appear to be signs of hotspots on the friction face.

Does this spell the end for the flywheel? or can an Exedy one be refaced or cleaned up an still perform well?

Thanks in advance.

5 speed ones can be refaced, but usually not on a lathe, as the ' hot spots ' are actually now harder metal than the base metal it was made of. The tool on a lathe simply skids over the hard area.

We reface them on our cylinder head re-grinder and finish off with a light cut to make a smoother surface.

Best to get it done properly or the new clutch will be ruined before you get a chance.

If we can help and you are local - ish to us in Warwickshire give me a call. Skimming is £60.00 + VAT. Mostly the set up time to get the machine ready to do its work

You could mail it to us if you are a long way away. Unless of course the skimming cost makes the deal less attractive. OR it is a six speed type.
