Question

For a 99MY WRX.....

Which is the best?

I've been told that a SS downpipe and HKS mid-section and b-box is the best confirmation.

Any clues?

Plus - are ITG air filters any good? I'm not into too much induction roar hiding my lovely exhaust note!!

HKS D/P is not as good as other HKS products.

Scoobysport or BPM is the way to go. Scoobysport is probably a better bet for on the road and at lower levels of tune.

BPM is very good at the top end but will lose low down torque as spool up comes later. Quieter than the S/S item tho.

Both are very good.

Many of the 340bhp plus cars are now running Scoobysport D/P and HKS Hiper mid and back boxes. You will need the extra bung for track days tho.

Stick to Scoobysport or Magnex,

I have a Magnex twin DP and SS back box on my MY99. Also have an ITG, you won't notice any difference in noise.

took me weeks before i could decide on what exhaust i wanted, after hearing lots of combinations at various meets and numerous emails.

I wanted a really nice deep loud burble boxer sound and as much power gain as poss, so i decided to go for a TSL downpipe (very similiar to a ScoobySport) and a Blitz NurSpec R center and back.

thought the Blitz was the better looking too, high grade polished stainless and real nice welds, not as raw looking as the drainpipish Hiper.

If you want a listen give me your mobile number and ill give you a call tonight and share a few revs with you.

power gains:
standard car, mild day - 226bhp
with exhaust, hot day - 250bhp

(and the blitz comes with a Bung if the noise gets annoying)

the HKS kit is also really well made, although you've gotta worry about waking up and finding sheep sleeping in the tailpipe It also has a bung for those quiet mooments

Oh, and it pops and bangs like mad when you lift off, my 'best' so far was frightening people in Richmond and making it do it for about 30 seconds...

you know you want one

M

Power: 265 before the exhaust, don't know what it is now but definately loads quicker.

Where the hell have the pops and bangs gone on my car?? I have a TSL downpip, and a scorpion mid and backbox, and there are no pops and bangs at all (that you can hear in the car anyway)! On hard acceleration and occasionally on slowing down, there is one huge bang, but thats about it? Is my car not feeding enough petrol????

strange thing is I'm used to it now and never use the bung, even on motorways

It's shocking how loud it is actually, I had some tires fitted and waited in the (loud) reception area (football was on), I heard it start up and drive out from the other side of the workshop

Re: pops and bangs, it does it all the time, like a snorting monster beast - does it even more with NF octane boost
