Gearbox noise and possible diff noise?

Gearbox noise and possible diff noise?
Hi ya'll,
2005 impreza gx sport got a swirling/grinding noise that I can hear with the windows up throughout all gears which I'm guessing is the diff.
And a juddering noise only in 5th gear at low revs (between 30-35mph) which can be heard with windows up or down, no other gear/rev other than 5th at low revs.
Any thoughts?
The juddering is quite annoying and worrying.

I've never got to the bottom of it, after taking it to my local garage they couldn't determine the cause.
Personally I'm beginning to suspect one of the front driveshaft/CV joints as it now bangs when i full lock to the left to back onto my drive
I will let you know when i get around to changing both the front driveshafts
