I have an MY00 wagon with Scoobysport backbox (about 4 months old) ..
I have recently noticed on long journeys (well Edinburgh to Aberdeen .. 120 miles or so) that the backbox seems to be much louder/growlier after 30-45 minutes of constant driving than when first setting off ?
.. is this normal ??
If not what's likely to be causing it?
Ta,
Doofus.

Yep - mine does the same. I've noticed it on my old MY00 and my new MY01 (both with full decats) and Sal's Dad's old car aswell.
Nice isn't it?

Yep, it's nice .. had the mother-in-law in the car yesterday .. she noted ... 'It's gets quite loud in here doesn't it?'
I have thought about adding a downpipe as well but not sure about the increase in noise .. my 4 month old daughter seems to sleep through the Scooby burble but thought a downpipe might be a bit much?
Is there much difference between a backbox vs. a downpipe+backbox noise level wise?

Yep mine does that as well
Spoke to Pete C on Saturday who said the down pipe shouldn't make system much more noisey.
Just have to see I suppose.

It gets louder when moisture content of air is lower. Hence hot sunny day louder than in Winter.
On a long journey you will burn all the condensed water out of the exhaust and hence make it sound louder than when you started!

A DP might not make it that much louder, but it makes it pop and bang. You can sort of control this with yer throttle and gears - more banging with closed throttle in low gear. I do it to cue on the entrance to tunnels, boy racer that I am (but creep down my home road in a high gear)

Doofus,
your car's obviously still not loud enough,........................................... .................................................. ...................................after-all, you still heard your mother-in-law, I thought the whole idea was to block them out totally!

Think it's around £200 mate. The performance difference is great - some boost starting to show with mine at 1800rpm now - you were looking at well over 2000 rpm before. We are very happy together!
An atmos BOV - how I want one, but how I tell myself it's a bit silly! Any perf gains??? Even a 1% better spin up between gears might swing it
