Question

I was speaking to a guy (sorry cr&p memory for names ) at the Surry meet on Sunday who had an Ecotek device fitted. It bleads air into the inlet manifold to give better low torque and fuel figures.

Has anybody used one and what did you think?

TIA

Ian

edited cos memory is a lot different to mamory

Well it does make a stoopid noise on the overrun...

I used one for 10k miles and it did seem to give me better mpg by about 2mpg a gallon but the noise really pevved me off even with the filter so this weekend I took it off and am much happier...

I'll sell you mine with filter (full cost of both bits was just over 70 quid) for 40inc Postage and original box and instructions etc...

mail me if interested, Jon.

Thumbs down

One already fitted to UK Turbo (94) when I bought it....seller reckoned it had increased the fuel efficiency from 23 to 28 MPG.

Can't say I've noticed that at all, but it may be down to the way he fitted it. Going to try and fit it differently and see if it makes any difference.

Oh yeah, it makes a nasty induction noise aswell, sounds like a thrust bearing going.

Hee Hee... Ian, Ian... tut.... ;-p

Unit has a gold end IIRC, but you cant see that cos its got a gold filter top... the whole thing is hidden by a large blue bonnet in my case... :-)

Not sure if thats tarty or not.. :-)

PS I dont think it sounds like a bearing going! it should make a whiny gurgle noise (ist the one way valve opening and closing / fluttering) as the revs drop but it should stop the noise just before the car settles to idle.

Jon.

Smile

they only work when your not running any boost, so mpg won't be affected when nailing it
