De-Cat = MOT Fail??

You can get away with removing one of the cats, normally in the centre section rather than the downpipe. This will ensure you pass an MOT.

Sure it will fail. But its not too hard to put a catted centre section back in come MOT time. That's what I'm going to do. And there are certain people who offer that service...

Depends on the model! I think that the only Imprezas that can get away without a cat are Jap imports 1994 or older (Markus's beast passed without any, 94WRX). All others will need cats by law to pass the test.

My 96 STI passed last year without cats, I rang around the local MOT stations beforehand & asked the question "am I correct in assuming because my car is an Import & not a UK model it does not need a cat" then took my car to the one who said yes, I dont know if I was lucky but anyway it passed. The red paint on one of the reversing light bulbs wired directly also worked for a fog light.
Perhaps I was just lucky but worth a try. Also I calleed the car a Subaru WRX STI, I purposely missed out the word Impreza on the phone
