All,

Just had my downpipe refitted last night and it got me thinking. A good mechanic mate of mine did it for me, and he hadn't done the job before. Took 1 hr and 15 mins, most of that time was spent looking for spanners and chatting I can't afford to waste good money at the Subaru dealers for a straight forward job like this!!

How much did the dealer charge to do this for you ? How many hours did they take ?

Well anyway, my mate will charge anyone on Scoobynet between £30 to £40 to fit thiers, if you live around the Bristol area. He can also do a Dawes and AFM.

Thats a bargain... especially as the nuts are prone to rounding, studs to snapping..

Yes, mine came off quite easy and he said £30, but allowed a little for any drama that he may encounter

Rounded off bolts and snapped studs shouldn't make the job take that much longer. Good point though, I'll get him to get a few spare for the next one he attempts.

Phill,

How much is your mate charging to fit a Dawes and the AFR? I should be ordering mine soon (especially after reading the improvements to your car on your previous post!).

Cheers,

Mark.

PS Where roughly in Bristol is he based?

He lives in Yate, and charges around £50 for the Dawes and the AFM to be fitted

He doesn't set the boost though, but me and sideways could help you with that mate
