Question

I've just bought and fitted a 2nd hand one of these. It sounds fine, but after taking the car for a good run I noticed that the backbox and tailpipe were very hot to touch. Much more so than the standard box ever was. Is this normal or could there be a problem with it ?

Any comments would be much appreciated
Cheers
Ian

You have been thrashing it

Exhaust gases after the turbo can be 700 deg C plus, don't know the temps at the backbox, but it will still be **HOT**.

Stainless will get hotter than mild steel.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I was a bit worried there might have been a problem. Good to hear it's normal

Just to add though, is there any danger of the area of bumper above it being damaged/melted from the heat ?.. after all, the tailpipe was hot enough to nearly burn my fingers when touched.

Cheers

Thumbs up

Mine (WRSport) was on for a good few months and never heat-damaged the plastic bumper trim
