Unhappy CLUTCH GONE :( ??

Hi all, sorry if im being an idiot but any advice would be much appreciated, set off to the garage yesterday and after dropping down to second and coming off a roundabout there was suddenly little/no drive, the revs and speedo both went up but that was it, it just coasted along like it was out of gear and i was revving it!!?? is this the clutch thats gone?? And does anyone know of a decent place in oxfordshire where i can get it changed??

cheers

doesn't sound like clutch failure as your speedo is still going up i could be wrong but sounds like something else

is it still at the petrol station then? Could be a few things inc clutch, gearbox, driveshafts, gear linkage? Weird how the speedo went up though... where is the speedo sensor on your car? Model, engine and year might help someone point you in the right direction?

Im assuming you mean the revs went up, not be speedo?

It likely the centre has snapped out of your clutch plate. Or less likely a broken drive shaft. If it is a broken shaft when you attempt to drive it you'll probably be able to hear a clunking coming from one corner behind the wheel

Yea sorry forgot about those bits, its an n reg 2.0ltr turbo wagon, I got it towed home as the petrol station is 2 mins away from my house, thats what baffled me too, the revs went up like the clutch was slipping but the speedo jumped up to about 30 if I remember correctly, I wasn't really looking too closely at the speedo I was trying to get the car off the road without having to get out and push.

The revs went up and the speedo iirc, So would you assume its new clutch time if the centre has snapped out?

Hi Rob. Did you get any further with it? Sorry, I missed your last post. Yes, if the centre has detached from the rest of the clutch then its new clutch time!

Hey, yea found out it was the rear driveshaft not the clutch which is a relief to say the least
