Question

Quick question - thinking of having downpipe mod fitted shortly - im sure this has been asked previously but i cant get the search facility to work - what are the main pros and cons for this mod how much bhp will it free up and will it make my exhaust louder!

Many thanks

folder,

I'm moving this thread to the drivetrain forum.

There's been a number of threads about downpipes in there over the past week or so, have a look around there if you havent already.

Short answer
about 15Bhp, makes the turbo spool up quicker, more noise, illegal to run as part of a fully decat system(you'll probably fail your MOT and any roadside tests)

You could get an Downpipe with a sports cat, but what are the chances of a road side test??????

You may be able to pass an an MOT by refitting the center cat and getting it nice and hot before testing.
