Talking

Two members of the Subaru french forum were invited yesterday to follow with their STI VII another one with added STI ECU and a full decat line.

The result was very, very impressive and the upgraded one was absolutely impossible to follow, in any way. The dealer was spoken about expected 320 bhp !!! Turbo blows about to 1,4 bar,but not more. Selenoïd doesn't run in this preparation.

Asthe dealer says that this STI added ECU is coming from England, have you some information about the selling source and could it reallly be a STI one ?

Anyone eared something about this tuning pack ? If it's really a STI upgrade, it could be the best choice, not ?

The future PPP will not have the same component, right ? (HKS ?)

Excuse the English of a french speaking Scooby fan...

Seems strange someone selling a modified ecu that does away with the OE solenoid - if you've modified the ecu then you should be able to do the boost parameters as well. Maybe there's just a fuel-cut soldered into the ecu + an MBC to up the boost? Do you know what type of boost control was used? Or how much it cost?

Thanks for the reply Dowser.

All we have deduced is that the added ECU controls itself the boost and also the air-fuel ratio which varies, depending the boost charge.

The price is about to 1300 Euros, incl. mount.

I'm very surprised to see that nobody here knows this upgrade which is said as coming from England. It could be not...

I visit your forum very often and have not read anything relating this "original STI upgrade" apart the future PPP; it's for this reason I'm coming to you. Thanks !

Could it be the performance pack that Iain Litchfield is fitting, which has been reviewed in Autocar?

He uses, amongst other things, a UniChip which definitely eliminates the boost spiking of the standard STI.

Could that be it???

Thumbs down

At this time it smells like a sting. Using the name of STI to sell something is a "better choice" than to say it comes for another part supplier !!!

In any case, I havn't see someting like this on the STI web site, it should be, not ?

Iain, I see you're still running your search for your name cropping up on scoobynet . Your times are slipping tho

BTW, met up with Scottish Menace (David A) last Friday. His car is wonderful, and I think he's "quite happy" with it!

Still, the mystery continues though!
